🕒 Contract / Long-term assignment

We are looking for an experienced Expert System Engineer to support the delivery of large-scale offshore HVDC and substation infrastructure projects.

This is a senior Owner’s Engineer role, focused on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system integration, and interface management across complex, multi-package projects. You will act as a technical integrator, ensuring that engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and O&M requirements are aligned and consistently implemented throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

MBSE Coordination & Interface Management

  • Coordinate all MBSE-related activities across engineering disciplines and project packages

  • Manage interfaces between internal teams and external stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, permitting authorities, O&M, logistics, and procurement

  • Ensure consistent integration of system requirements (HSE, certification, permitting, installation, operation) into overall design and execution

Specifications, Design & Technical Review

  • Prepare and review technical specifications and tender documentation

  • Review and comment on designs, documentation, and technical decisions

  • Ensure coherence of functional design across all project packages

  • Resolve conflicts between specifications and recommend technically sound solutions

  • Ensure compliance with DIN VDE, IEC, and other relevant standards while balancing cost and risk

Project Execution & Implementation

  • Translate system and engineering requirements into EPCI and FIM execution environments

  • Support development and implementation of commissioning strategies

  • Prepare and review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)

  • Track implementation of technical requirements from permits and approvals

Quality, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Monitor compliance with contractual, technical, HSE, and QA requirements

  • Identify technical risks and initiate corrective actions

  • Support construction, installation, commissioning, and O&M phases with a strong systems perspective

Knowledge Sharing & Communication

  • Act as a key technical contact for system-related topics within the project team

  • Support knowledge transfer and continuous improvement

  • Report on new technological developments and best practices

What We Are Looking For

Required

  • Degree in engineering or a related technical field

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in:

    • MBSE coordination

    • System engineering or system integration for large infrastructure projects

  • Proven experience in EPCI / FIM environments

  • Strong understanding of system requirements, interfaces, and lifecycle integration

  • Experience working on complex infrastructure projects (offshore, HVDC, substations, or similar)

  • Fluent English (written and spoken, C1 level preferred)

  • German language skills at least B1 level

Nice to Have

  • Experience on the Owner / Client side

  • Background in offshore wind, HVDC, or transmission infrastructure

  • Strong stakeholder and contractor management skills
